VOLUNTEERING @ THE GINNEL PROJECT, LEEDS

The Ginnel Project x Studio Supernatural x Leeds Beckett University

Kerrie is based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, with our northern studio being located in Chapeltown. Kerrie is a regular volunteer for a local community group called ‘The Ginnel Project’, who are working to improve and re-think a one-mile long ancient public route through Chapeltown (right near our office). Our voluntary activities include practical activities to improve the infrastructure and features of the ginnel, such as planting trees and bulbs, clearing litter etc. We are also involved in the strategic plans for the ginnel, including design and planning of the spaces, seeking funding, engaging local residents, new volunteers and the public, through events like Light Night 2023, Foraging workshops, gardening activities and art activities.

Kerrie is simultaneously teaching 2nd year Landscape Architecture Students at Leeds Beckett University, who are currently undertaking an urban design module to redesign the ginnels, in collaboration with the Ginnel Project.
